Republican Ashley Williams is running for Livingston County District Attorney in this fall’s election.
An experienced prosecutor and attorney, Ashley launched her campaign with a pledge to focus on reducing crime, fighting the drug crisis, standing up for victims’ rights, improving cooperation with law enforcement agencies, and ensuring the D.A.’s Office participates in CAP court proceedings to keep dangerous criminals off our streets.
“I’m running for District Attorney to bring honesty, transparency, integrity and accountability to the D.A.’s Office,” she said. “We need a change in leadership to ensure that criminals are prosecuted effectively and that Livingston County is as safe as possible for our children, senior citizens, families and all residents.”
Since 2020, Ashley has served as the Senior Social Services Attorney for the Livingston County Department of Social Services. In this role, she provides counsel on all legal matters, including investigations and cases involving child welfare and adult protective services, financial fraud, complicated Medicaid issues and more. She regularly handles cases of sex abuse, physical abuse, child neglect and more. This position was notably held by Livingston County Court Judge Jennifer Noto prior to her election to the bench in 2019.
Before moving into this role at DSS, Ashley spent several years prosecuting criminals as a Livingston County Assistant District Attorney. Earlier in her career, she also served as an Assistant District Attorney in Oneida and Rensselaer Counties and worked as a defense attorney.
"As a Republican, I oppose bad policies that some liberal Democrats have pushed forward, like Bail Reform and Defunding the Police,” noted Ashley. “As District Attorney, I’ll utilize the bully pulpit of the Office to stand up and make our community’s opposition to these policies known to lawmakers in Albany and Washington. We need more rights for victims, not criminals.”
Ashley, 37, lives in Lima with her husband, Mike (who serves as Captain of the Criminal Investigations Division at the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office), stepson Cole, and their dog Murphy.
The 2024 General Election is slated for Tuesday, November 5th.
